It’s been a big year for weddings in Hollywood, so we’re casting our eyes back and counting down our top 10 picks for the biggest celebrity weddings in 2014.

Formerly considered the ultimate bachelor; George Clooney married human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin back in September. The stylish pair tied the knot at the historic Aman Canal Grande in Venice, Italy. The bride was ravishing in a breathtaking French lace Oscar de la Renta gown featuring a striking off the shoulder design. Since sporting this romantic style, many designers and brides have followed suit and opted for this classic wedding dress design. The wedding festivities were spread over three days with the bride making headlines for her fashion forward outfits.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West lavish nuptials were held in Florence, Italy in May this year. Kim, Kanye and daughter North were all fitted out with custom Givenchy ensembles. In vast contrast to her previous wedding Kim wore a form fitting gown which featured long, lace sleeves, sheer panels, a modest neckline and mermaid silhouette. The couple exchanged vows in front of a stunning floral wall, which became an emerging trend for weddings in 2014. Guests were treated to performances from Italian singer Andrea Bocelli and R&B singer John Legend.

These two A listers finally tied the knot in August this year. The pair exchanged vows in a nondenominational private ceremony in private at their French home. The nuptials were attended by a select group of 20 family and friends. The couple’s brood each played their part; sons Maddox and Pax walked Jolie down the aisle, while flower girls Zahara and Vivienne threw petals and Shiloh and Knox acted as ring bearers. The children also adorned the back of Jolie’s Luigi Massi designed gown with their unique illustrations.

Solange Knowles and her long time love video director Alan Ferguson tied the knot in an all-white affair held in New Orleans. The bride wore not one but five different outfits for the big day. For the ceremony Solange wore a dramatic Kenzo gown with statement gold cuffs, a floor length cape and a vibrant red lip. A signature of her wedding style was the unique cape look which featured in two of three Stéphane Rolland designed jumpsuits the bride wore throughout the course of the day. For the reception, Solange wore a loose fitting wrap dress with a thigh high split. Solange’s non-traditional style was only trumped by an adorable video which emerged of the bride performing a choreographed dance with her 10 year old son Julez.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson

After two children, Jessica Simpson finally married her long time fiancé Erica Johnson at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara in July. Jessica stunned in a mesmerising gold embroidered strapless Carolina Herrera custom wedding dress. The romantic and slightly regal gown featured a flattering a line skirt. Jessica had 12 bridesmaids for her big day each sported a striking mismatched gown from designers including Marchesa, Jason Wu and Temperley, Carmen Marc Valvo and Herrera. The couples children were involved acting as flower girl and ring bearer at the whimsical affair. Jess’ younger sister Ashlee also married for the second time this year to Evan Ross (son of legendary Diana Ross).
